Neitokainen
Human-made pond in Kittilä, Finland
Neitokainen (also called Neitojärvi or Finlantto) is an artificial pond in Finland. It was constructed in the municipality of Kittilä on the slope of Vesikkovaara in It is known for being shaped in the cartographic form of Finland.
The length of the pond is meters (&#;ft) and the average depth is one meter. The pond is in the shape of Finland at a , scale.[2]
History
[edit]During the early s there was a tourist boom in Lapland. The tourism company Polartrio wanted to create a holiday village in Kittilä.[3] The area around what would become Neitokainen was zoned for the construction of luxury accommodations. The exhibition of performances by Iriadamant community members was planned to bring visitors to the area.[4]
Polartrio employed Esko Sääskilahti as the construction manager for the project. Sääskilahti designed the pond as the central point of the village, and performed the necessary measurements and marked the contours of the lake on the terrain.[3] The excavation work took about a week during the summer of using two machines.[3] Neitokainen was then filled by groun

Landskapssjöar i Finland
Landskapssjöar i Finland är landskapssymboler som utsågs genom enstaka tävling anordnad av Finlands miljöcentral inom syfte för att tilldela samtliga Finlands 19 landskap varsin sjö. Bland landskapssjöarna finns de flesta sjötyper inom Finland representerade.[1]Pyhäjärvi i Säkylä är landskapssjö för både Satakunta samt Egentliga land i norden.
Tävlingsförfarande
[redigera | redigera wikitext]I tävlingens inledande skede likt inleddes inom mars kunde man föreslå och motivera kandidater vid Finlands miljöcentrals webbplats Järviwiki.[1] Totalt föreslogs över olika sjöar från vilka tävlingens jury sedan valde ut tre per landskap. inom tävlingens andra skede vilket pågick 14–30 september skedde en val per textmeddelande och vykort. Den vattensamling som samlat flest röster i varenda landskap utnämndes till landskapssjö. Totalt mottogs ungefär 13&#; röster.[1]
Tävlingen ordnades av Finlands miljöcentral inom samarbete tillsammans med YLEs TV-program Suomi Express. Den finansierades av Maa- ja vesitekniikan tuki ry.[1]
